What you might see

Searching an English phrase like "to play" or "coined word" returns no word results even though the phrase appears in a definition; or the search page spins forever / the app stops responding until restarted.

What's happening

Multi-word English lookups hit a query-parser limitation — the words are searched separately rather than as a phrase, so verbatim definition matches don't surface. That, and the intermittent search hang, are collected in the tracked issue below with a search rework in progress.

What to do

For English-to-Japanese lookups, search a single word ("play", not "to play") — results are far more reliable. If search hangs: force-close and reopen the app (it clears the stuck state), then report it via in-app feedback mentioning what you searched for.
